Daniil Medvedev has lived up to his tag as one of the favourites to lift the
ATP Finals title in Turin this week by reaching the final ending the run of Casper Ruud in the process.
Medvedev eased past the Norwegian who battled back to defeat Andrey Rublev yesterday to reach the latter stages in a 6-4, 6-2 win.
He now has nine consecutive wins in this event as the current defending champion and will get Novak Djokovic or Alexander Zverev tomorrow evening in Turin. They face off later today at around 9pm local time.
He made a quick start against Ruud and was strong on serve winning 85% of points behind his first serve sealing the opener in 42 minutes.
He raced into a 4-2 lead dealing with Ruud's slice and drop shots before easing to the finishing line with 17 winners and only 14 unforced errors en route not dropping a game from there.
For Ruud, he can take some solace from a superb season earning 55 tour level wins and five tour titles en route to the semi-finals where he came up short against Djokovic's current main rival.
