Daniil Medvedev had a good start to his US Open campaign as he defeated Delbonis 6-1 6-2 6-4 to advance to the 2nd round of the tournament.

Daniil Medvedev had a good start to his US Open campaign as he required only one hour and 46 minutes to defeated Delbonis and advance to the next round. After the match he said:
"I'm most pleased today with the score, three sets. I'm happy that I finished before midnight. I was playing consistent and wasn't going for crazy shots... I managed to keep my distance and always kept pressure on his serve. That was the key."
As his statement reads Medvedev has been focused not to exert too much energy in the early rounds. That was something that costed him last year when he was extremely tired by the time he reached the final. Even so, he forced the match to 5 sets but failed to win it.
When asked about his next opponent Medvedev said:
"I know that he can play really good tennis. When Andrey Rublev was at the top of his [game] in Australia, he took a set off him. I'm going to see some matches of his and prepare."
His opponent is the O'Connel and promising youngsters who possesses a strong serve that will be dangerous. Playing at home in his first grand slam will also be an added bonus for the youngsters and Medvedev is aware of it.
