Daniil Medvedev has sent Russia into the final of the
Davis Cup Finals after easing past Jan-Lennard Struff in a 6-4, 6-4 victory in Madrid.
Medvedev had the task of finishing the tie off with Andrey Rublev giving them the lead early on breezing past Dominik Koepfer in only 50 minutes.
The World Number Two stuck to his task in both sets claim a solitary break in both at 5-4 up in the first where he surged into a 40-0 lead only to claim it at 40-30.
Then it was a set and a break up early on with a 3-2 lead for Medvedev. He only faced break points once in the whole match when serving at 5-4 up.
He was 40-30 down but turned around the deficit to claim the tie and tomorrow, they will be favourites when they take on the likes of Marin Cilic and surprise package Borna Gojo.
They are now into the Davis Cup final for the first time since 2007 and will look to add to wins in the ATP Cup, Billie Jean King Cup and also medals at the Olympic Games.
