Iga Swiatek had a decent 2021 season that ended for her at the WTA Finals, her first-ever but it seems like changes needed to be made ahead of the 2022 season.
There were not many highlights for Swiatek in 2021 but those that she did have were memorable. She won the Rome Masters in a convincing fashion not dropping a single game against Pliskova while also achieving other great results. Her play was up and down though with not a lot of consistency and it was something that troubled the Polish player.
Now it became known that she split with her coach Piotr Sierzputowski after working
with him for more than five years. Sierzputowski
helped develop Swiatek's game from the junior circuit to the
professional tour, leading her to the junior Wimbledon title in 2018 and
the French Open Grand Slam two years later.
The decision was announced on her Instagram where she wrote:
"This change is really challenging for me and this decision wasn't easy, either. I
found out that sometimes in our professional life we need changes to
develop more, evolve, and meet other people with whom we're going to
create a cooperation for the next stages of our development. I would like to thank you coach for everything that you did for me."
