Daniil Medvedev and Jan-Lennard Struff are the first two men's quarterfinalists at the Western & Southern Open.

After winning the 2019 Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, Daniil Medvedev has a difficult task this year in New York. The Russian needs to defend a lot of points, and so far he's successful.
After defeating Marcos Giron in the second round, he took on Ajlaz Bedene in the third. The third-seeded Medvedev was almost flawless during the match against Bedene. He didn't allow his opponent to have a single breakpoint and converted 3 out of his 4 opportunities to win the match 6-3, 6-3 in just 70 minutes.
In the second third-round match, it was the seventh-seeded David Goffin that faced Jan-Lennard Struff. While it was only the second match for the Belgian, Struff played already his third after defeated De Minaur and Shapovalov in the previous rounds.
Struff confirmed his great form also in the match against Goffin. He won the first set 6-4 but his opponent was better in the second and his great defense paid off to win the second set. However, Struff showed that he's in the very good form in the third set to win the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in more than 2 hours.
