Lorenzo Musetti and
Frances Tiafoe created the latest instalment in the cold handshake saga after playing a match where Tiafoe felt he was treated unfairly.
It was a heated clash between the pairing with the American taking exception to the way the umpire handled that match considering his opponent was an Italian in Rome. The match wasn't abandoned at the time when the rail started to fall and continued to be played for a while. It was the last match to be called off and Tiafoe took exception because it was during a time that Musetti was playing very well.
He had all the momentum on his side and was able to take an early break in the rain at the start of the 3rd set. The match finished the next day but the damage was done and Tiafoe wasn't able to break back. He shook hands with very low enthusiasm earning a thumbs up from Musetti after that. It seems like the Italian found it disrespectful but Tiafoe found the treatment disrespectful.
