Andy Murray has claimed victory in his first match in seven months in defeating Liam Broady in his opener at the Battle of the Brits.
Murray who claimed a remarkable victory in Antwerp last year suffered a bruised pelvic bone at the Davis Cup Finals and due to that and Coronavirus, his plans to return were derailed.
But he looked good in his return breezing past Broady, who is the World Number 211 in a 6-2, 6-2 win.
After breaking in the first game, Murray was pegged back to 2-2 but from there he asserted his authority in a dominant set.
In the next one, this was further asserted with a brilliant backhand from the baseline taking a game which finished in 13 minutes at 5-2 up. He let out a come on finishing with an ace in the next game as he claimed victory.
It is a return for Murray and based off this match it is quite a successful one thus far in a tournament he played down his chances in.
