Murray decides return at ABN AMRO Open Rotterdam after Australian Open heroics

Andy Murray elected not to play at the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam following his Australian Open heroics and he will be replaced by Tallon Griekspoor.

Murray played some amazing tennis at the Australian Open taking down Matteo Berrettini in round one and Thanasi Kokkinakis in round two. The British player found himself out of energy to seriously take on Bautista Agut in the 3rd round but left Australia quite happy with the level shown as he hopes to keep it up in 2023.

One of his next events was supposed to be the ATP event in Rotterdam which he won many years ago and often played at. He won't be there in 2023 as the tournament director confirmed that Murray pulled out:

“We consider it a blessing in disguise. On the one hand, it is a pity that Andy Murray will not be present. On the other hand, I am glad that we can admit Tallon to the main draw. He is the man in form and I think he can show great things in the ABN AMRO Open.”

Murray switched to play at the Qatar Open in Doha.
