A catastrophe in Glasgow as the British team loses the second tie in their group making it impossible for them to qualify for the
Davis Cup final.
After suffering a heartbreaking loss to the US Team by losing the doubles matchup, Murray and Salisbury once again came up short in Glasgow. This time around it was the Dutch pairing of Koolhof and Middelkoop who proved better in another tight 3-setter.
Some would argue that this matchup was one the Brits needed and you would not be wrong. With this loss, they are out of contention to qualify for the Davis Cup Finals. Evans secured the first point by beating Griekspoor but Norrie completely fell apart against van de Zandschulp and now the doubles lost as well.
Murray and Salisbury started off well taking an early break in the first set and they held it for a while. A few mistakes brought the Dutch pairing back into it and the Brits paid the price in the tiebreak which their opponents won 7-0.
They proved much better in the second set saving both break points they faced but failing to use the one they had. We went into another tiebreak but this time around they proved resilient saving a match point to take it 8-6. The final set was another good one but the Dutch pairing looked much sharper. They served well and controlled the rallies well getting a breakthrough late in the set.
They finished it off 6-3.
