Lorenzo Musetti has been playing amazing tennis ever since Acapulco and now, back home, at the
Sardegna Open he took it to another level.
Lorenzo Musetti has been playing some amazing tennis on the North American hard court swing so all eyes were on him as he made his Sardegna Open debut. As an Italian he enjoys clay and it was on full display against Novak who does not favour the surface at all. The Italian raced to a 6-0 6-1 finish in just 53 minutes. Speaking afterwards he said:
"It was an incredible match. From the beginning, I felt so comfortable on the court and hitting the ball. I had really good feelings. Today was not easy, because there was a lot of wind and it was my first match on clay after the hard season."
Speaking on the surface change from hard courts to clay courts, he explained that his strategy did not change:
"I didn't feel so much difference because my strategy, my game doesn't change between hard court and clay court. My goals are to be the leader of the game and stay not so far from the baseline, and try to be aggressive. It's not the same thing, but almost."
Musetti underlined his intention to play like this in the future because it makes him proud:
"I'm really proud of myself and the attitude I had on the court, playing each point the best. This is what I'm looking forward to do in the future."
