In October last year, Rafael Nadal claimed his 13th Roland Garros title in big style, defeating all seven rivals in straight sets to extend his Parisian dominance.
Rafa came to Paris for his most challenging Roland Garros since his debut in 2005, playing only a couple of matches since the end of February and facing different conditions than ever before.
Rising to the challenge, Rafa played on a high level from start to finish, beating all seven opponents without losing a set to lift his 20th Major crown and join Roger Federer at the top of the GOAT race.
Despite cold and rainy weather and a roof above Court Philippe-Chatrier, Rafa got broken only eight times in total during the fortnight, dominating on both serve and return to leave every opponent behind and extend his Parisian dominance. In the final, Rafa took down Novak Djokovic 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 in two hours and 41 minutes, toppling the most significant rival and winning the title in style.
In a recent interview, Nadal said that last year's Roland Garros was his most considerable success in a career due to those conditions and everything he had to endure en route to the trophy.
