"My role model is Roger Federer" says Lorenzo Musetti

Up and coming tennis start Lorenzo Musetti named Roger Federer as his sporting idol which is understandable considering Musetti grew up watching him.

Roger Federer has many admirers and it's only natural considering he is widely considered one of the best of all time. What makes Federer even more iconic is his universal popularity around the globe which is something neither Djokovic nor Nadal can claim to that extent. One of his fans is up and coming Italian tennis star Lorenzo Musetti who admitted Federer is his idol:

"My sporting role model for sure is Roger Federer. I study him and I'm a huge fan of him. I really want to be like him in everything, on and off the court."

Musetti has similar traits to Federer in his game such as the one-hand backhand which is considered a rarity in modern-day tennis, especially among younger players. Notable players that play a one-handed backhand because of Roger Federer include, Tsitsipas, Dimitrov and Musetti.

Whether Musetti can even come close to the level Federer display remains to be seen but his tremendous talent should see him become a top 10 player down the line.
