Stefanos Tsitsipas had serving woes for the first two sets against Musetti losing both but once he found he cruised past the Italian 5-7 4-6 6-2 6-3 6-2.
It was a strange match where Tsitsipas struggled to stay in rallies against Musetti in the first two sets but once he found his rhythm and momentum it completely changed. Musetti struggled to stay with Tsitsipas in rallies and the Greek smashes his opponent rather easily. Following the match he pointed to his serve as the key to everything:
“My serve was really off… maybe not the first few games of the match,
but after, it completely collapsed. It wasn't there. That threw me off a
lot. Once I really found my momentum
on the serve, my routines and everything, I knew that it can be a
different match. I felt like I was serving better than him, creating
more opportunities with my serve, pressing more."
He continued:
"It would have been kind of not fair, from my perspective, to have a different outcome.”
A solid start for Stefanos at Roland Garros where he is defending major points having played in the final last year.
