Rafael Nadal parted ways with longtime coach Francisco Roig recently and how he's announced who will replace him on his team for the 2023 season.
Nadal doesn't have just one coach but a team of coaches that work with him daily. It's become fairly common practice in tennis for players to have several team members and Nadal is one of them. A few days ago he announced the departure of Roig from his team and now he announced his replacement.
Gustavo Marcaccio is the person who will replace Roig. Marcaccio is known to Nadal as he's been associated with his Tennis Academy for a while and works as one of the coaches there. He will be part of a team that already featured Carlos Moya and Marc Lopez.
Nadal released a statement to go along with the news:
“Hello everyone. I want to inform you of the joining of Gustavo Marcaccio to the technical team.Gustavo has been working at the @rafanadalacademy since April 2021
and I understand he is a good addition to the team. It sure will help us
a lot to stay on the road. Welcome Gustavo!”
