Rafael Nadal had no issues against Michael Mmoh in his 2nd round matchup at the
Australian Open cruising to a straight-sets victory.
Nadal will be glad he managed to get this one done in straight sets as he spent a bit over an hour and a half to defeat Michael Mmoh 6-1 6-4 6-2. It started off well for Nadal who came out prepared against his opponent reading his serve well and playing a very controlled brand of tennis. He accelerated his tempo when he needed to and hit 10 winners en route to a 6-1 opening set victory. The 2nd set was much tougher for Nadal as his opponent started mixing up his game more often allowing him to win service point more easily. Mmoh made fewer mistakes and served better so Nadal had to dig deep to fight his way to a break point. He converted it immediately and held on to secure the 2nd set with 6-4.
The 3rd set opened with Nadal determined to quickly break his opponent and secure an early advantage that would position him to an easy finish. He would carve out several early break points but Mmoh saved all five of them. Nadal would not let up and he would finally breakthrough in the next service game of Mmoh taking a 3-2 lead that ballooned to a 5-2 lead and eventually 6-2 third set finish.
It was a strong showing from Nadal who did not allow a single break point to his opponent hitting winners to only unforced errors en route to the straight-sets victory.
