Rafael Nadal stepped onto the court after the long rain delay on Friday and he was quick in dealing with Travaglia booking a 4th round spot at the Roland Garros.
The long rain delay pushed back several matches on Friday at the Roland Garros and Nadal's match was no different. When he finally stepped onto the court, it was business as usual for the Spaniard. The match which was played under a closed roof opened with a super-focused Nadal who broke Travaglia in his first service game to take a 3-0 lead. He broke him once more later in the set to win it 6-1.
He played a great set hitting 9 winners and losing only one 1st service point. The 2nd set was a strong display from Travaglia as he played very good tennis which we saw in the result. Travaglia played well and held his serve for the better part of the set not even allowing Nadal any breakpoints. However, Nadal still found a way to break through his defence and winning the set 6-4.
The final set was a routine set for Nadal as both he and his opponent kind of came to terms with the outcome of the match. Nadal was like a machine playing his game and not committing any errors while Travaglia looked depleted and tired and generally uninterested in contesting the match any further. Two early breaks for Nadal gave him a 4-0 lead. For a moment it seemed like Travaglia won win a game in the set but Nadal was too ruthless to let that happen. Moments later he ended the match with a 6-0 3rd set victory.
