Boris Becker has named Rafael Nadal was his favourite out of the 4 remaining players to win the Roland Garros.
The Roland Garros ATP semifinal start today with matches between Rafael Nadal and Diego Schwartzman and Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic. As per usual most expect the final to be between Nadal and Djokovic and in that type of final Boris Becker sees Nadal as the favourite. Speaking to Eurosport Becker said:
“For me, the number one is clearly Rafa Nadal. “He won the tournament 12 times, played 100 matches at Roland-Garros and has won 98 times. Unimaginable statistics."
And Becker is right, Nadal has unthinkable stats at the Roland Garros which is why he was the favourite for Becker even before any matches ere played. A strong display against Sinner convinced Becker even more saying:
“The tournament has shown that he is in dazzling shape and the quarter-final against Jannik Sinner convinced me.”
Turning his attention to Novak he firstly expressed fascination with the year he had by saying:
“It’s fascinating how Novak Djokovic has contested this year. He won all matches except his disqualification in New York. The question is, how well is he recovering from the exhausting quarter-final against Carreno-Busta?"
He then continued by explaining that he saw cracks in Djokovic:
“The shoulder, the back, the elbow hurt. I think that his psyche was also cracked Nevertheless, I believe that he can use his experience in a Grand Slam semi-final (against Stefanos Tsitsipas).”
Don't go anywhere because we will have instant match reports as soon as the matches finish today.
