Roger Federer has broken silence on his condition by giving a very positive update saying he doesn't feel any pain while training and promising there won't be any more surgeries.
Roger Federer has been absent from the courts a long time as he last played in January at the Australian Open. Since then he has had two knee surgeries and a very long recovery that will make him ready to play in 2021. He hasn't spoken much about his recovery but now he has finally given an update and its a positive one:
“I’m on the right path. I’m gradually coming back but without putting any pressure on myself and taking my time.
The ongoing pandemic and reduced schedule is making the decision not to rush back easier for him. Speaking about that he reiterated his commitment not to rush anything by saying:
“I will enter the tournaments only when I’m 100% fit. It currently looks like I can make my comeback at the Australian Open in January.
Getting back into shape is a hard task especially for a player who is well into his 30's but Roger said he is working on it. Speaking on his fitness he said:
“I can’t train for more than two hours with the racquet at the moment, but I have been working on my stamina and strength painlessly for a while. There will be no further surgeries.”
He and his fans and the whole tennis world remain hopeful because the ATP tour is not the same without one of the most recognizable faces in the sport. So far his comeback is on track and he is scheduled to return at the Australian Open 2021.
