Rafael Nadal will leave the top 10 after the Indian Wells Masters ending his supreme record of 912 consecutive weeks ranked among the best players in the world.
The Spaniard hasn't been able to play much tennis this year due to an injury he suffered at the Australian Open. He recently admitted that recovery is going very slow and that he's not sure when he'll be able to play tennis again. He confirmed that he'll do it as soon as he can but for now, it's a tricky thing to heal due to the significance of the injury.
Due to that, Nadal lost most of the points he gathered last year and a lot of them came in the first half of the season. After Taylor Fritz booked the semi-final of Acapulco, Nadal was mathematically confirmed to leave the top 10 after the Indian Wells Masters. He played in the final last year and when those points come off he'll be out.
He responded briefly to that news adding that it was a miracle he remained in the top 10 as long as he did with all the injuries he had. It's hard to argue against that.
