With the absence of both Daniil Medvedev (ban) and Alexander Zverev (injury), the questions have swelled around another player with doubts around his participation in
Rafael Nadal.
Nadal initially seemingly confirmed he would not play
Wimbledon but those fears have now been dispelled confirming what his uncle Toni Nadal stated in this past week and he has come to the decision to play in SW19.
After practicing this morning with Feliciano Lopez on the grass courts in Mallorca, he held a press conference where he revealed his plans to play after a short-term procedure on his foot following the French Open which was always the potential issue.
He said he will fly to London on Monday to begin these preparations despite no warm-up tournaments seemingly penciled in before he plays.
"What was done in Barcelona (medical treatment for the foot) is not a 100% immediate thing, but changes are noticeable, I have noticed them, strange sensations, my joint pain has decreased. My intention is to play Wimbledon, travel to London on Monday," he said translated from Spanish.
