Brandon Nakashima will make his US Open main draw debut in the coming weeks with the 19-year-old being granted a wild card and a qualifying spot at the Western & Southern Open.
Nakashima has had a huge rise to No.220 from 500 below before that and he reached the Quarter-Finals at the Delray Beach Open in February.
As a result, the hype will be there for him and he spoke about improving his game and his thoughts on lockdown as well as his future ambitions.
"I think just tightening up some strokes and working on some technical stuff. I just wanted to keep the strokes sharp and added some variety to my game a little bit. Beefing up the serve a little and improving the fitness was really the biggest thing," said Nakashima in a US Open Q&A.
"It was tough at the beginning, especially coming off a couple good runs at some tournaments and having to stop all of a sudden.
It was a little bit tough mentally but gave me the time to work on my game and practice for a long period of time, unlike my normal schedule when there are a lot of tournaments back to back. So I think it definitely was good for my game, but at the same time tough because no one knew what was going to happen in the future or when tournaments were going to be back.
I just want to keep improving and keep doing well and developing my game and doing well at the Grand Slams. I want to be No. 1 in the world one day."
