Australian tennis great John Newcombe believes Nick Kyrgios will be very hard to beat at Wimbledon.
Nick Kyrgios has not played competitive tennis since the Australian Open but he will make his return at Wimbledon. The Australian player has been an excellent Wimbledon performer and genuinely enjoys playing there. Kyrgios was supposed to play some prep events ahead of Wimbledon but an injury prevented him from doing so.
Asked about Nick's chances at Wimbledon, John Newcombe said:
I’m sure [world No 1 Novak] Djokovic wouldn’t want to play him in the first round at Wimbledon. Look, there will be a lot of top players who won’t want to see Nick in their section of the draw. He’s underdone but he’s going to be very hard to beat, put it like that.”
Kyrgios won't be a seed at Wimbledon as he dropped out of the top 50 in the rankings which will make things harder for him draw-wise. Newcombe believes there is a real danger for him due to that saying:
“If he has a one really tough match, he might have trouble coming up for the next match. I imagine the top guys will be hoping that he’ll meet a very good player, not one of the very good ones but a solid player who puts a lot of balls back and then Nick will get frustrated."
