Nick Kyrgios joins Stuttgart Open lineup featuring Zverev, Fritz, and Monfils

Nick Kyrgios has confirmed his participation in the Stuttgart Open to kick off his grass-court swing this June. The Australian hopes to hit his stride on a surface that suits his game, making him a dangerous opponent for anyone.
The former world No. 13 reached his only Grand Slam final on grass back in 2022, losing to Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon. However, questions remain over how much longer Kyrgios will stay on the professional circuit after suffering an injury ahead of the Australian Open.
Kyrgios had been sidelined for two years due to surgeries and was close to retirement. However, he fought back to recover and returned this year at the Brisbane International, where he partnered with Novak Djokovic in doubles—reaching the Round of 16—and also played singles, losing in the first round to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (6-7, 7-6, 6-7).
A few weeks later, he competed in Melbourne at the Australian Open, where he fell to Jacob Fearnley in singles. He also played doubles with Thanasi Kokkinakis—his former title-winning partner—but was forced to withdraw due to injury. The 29-year-old later admitted that his knee issues make it difficult for him to remain active on tour.
Kyrgios has played in Stuttgart four times between 2018 and 2022, reaching the semifinals twice. He joins a star-studded field that includes Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Gael Monfils.
The defending champion is Jack Draper, who defeated Matteo Berrettini in last year’s final (3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4). The Italian remains one of the tournament favourites, having won the title twice and finishing as runner-up in 2023.
