Nick Kyrgios will not be part of the television broadcasts for the Australian Open this year. The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up, who has endured an extended injury layoff over the past two years, previously served as a commentator for Australian Open and Wimbledon broadcasts.
This year, however, Kyrgios will experience the Australian Open as a player once again, returning to the main draw for the first time since missing the 2023 and 2024 editions. While his comeback suggested he wouldn’t be part of the broadcasting team, there are no rules that explicitly prohibit it.
In previous editions, Darren Cahill has served as a broadcaster despite being Jannik Sinner’s coach. Cahill has commented on matches not involving the Italian and shared insights about his player’s form.
Journalist Jon Wertheim confirmed via social media that Kyrgios would not join the ESPN Australian Open 2025 broadcast team, sparking mixed reactions from fans. “Read into this what you will, but Nick Kyrgios will not be part of the ESPN @AustralianOpen 2025 broadcast team,” Wertheim tweeted.
Read into this what you will, but Nick Kyrgios will *not* be part of the ESPN @AustralianOpen 2025 broadcast team.

Kyrgios is set to compete in both the singles and doubles draws, marking his first Grand Slam appearance since the 2022 US Open, where he reached the quarterfinals before losing to Karen Khachanov in a grueling five-set battle. He will reunite with Thanasi Kokkinakis in doubles, aiming to replicate their 2022 championship run.
