Nick Kyrgios continued with his good performances as he played another solid match to take down Fabio Fognini 6-2 6-4 in Miami.
The Australian player is playing very inspiring tennis showcasing a level of care he did not show in a very long time. His demolition of Rublev shook the tennis world and put everyone on notice however today was not the same level for Nick. It was still pretty decent overall, especially against Fognini whose mind wandered somewhere else.
The Italian was overpowered by Kyrgios early in the match as his weaker serves was a point of attack. Kyrgios did not waste any time taking an early break in the match and then added another one. Fognini did not try too hard as he kind of made peace with a defeat even before stepping onto the court. He engages with Kyrigos in light banter and played up the crowd.
The 2nd set saw a more serious approach by Fognini who held his own pretty well. On return, he failed to generate much pressure as Kyrgios was simply too good overall. Eventually, Kyrgios did find a way and broke the Italian at 4-4 to take a 5-4 lead. He then finished off the job with 6-4 to move on.
