Stefanos Tsitsipas faced an unseeded American once more but this time around the Greek player weathered the storm in a 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 win.
Tsitsipas could have ended this match in two sets but an inspired effort from Wolf simply did not allow that. The American played extremely well, especially in the 2nd set tiebreak where he hit some amazing shots. Ultimately it proved too taxing and draining and Tsitsipas cruised in the final set with 6-1. After the match he admitted that he was in for a battle:
"Always expect him to play the match of his life. He had nothing to lose. I very much know how to handle situations like this, speaking from experience. It kind of worked in the third set. I think letting go and relaxing a bit helped me a lot and gave me that win."
Next up is another tricky mathup with Alex De Minaur waiting:
"He's a fighter. I really hope to bring out the same kind of level that I brought in the third set, and maintain that throughout the match."
