Australian tennis star
Nick Kyrgios resumed his beef with compatriot
Bernard Tomic, after Tomic suffered a humiliating defeat in the final on an event on the
Challenger Tour on Sunday.
Tomic, who has been grinding on the Challenger Tour in an attempt to make an comeback on the ATP circuit, faced American Learner Tien in the final of the ATP Fairfield Challenger event. Tien breezed past his Aussie opponent, securing a comprehensive 6-0 6-1 victory in just 39 minutes.
Kyrgios mocks Tomic's loss, reigniting dormant feud
The former World No.13 took to social media to react to Tomic's loss, posting a laughing emoji when news of his compatriot's loss emerged. Kyrgios and Tomic have had their share of conflict over the years, with the former even proposing a boxing match between them to settle their differences. Tomic also holds the record for the fastest loss in ATP Tour history, when he lost 6-0 6-1 in 28 minutes during a first round Miami Open match in 2014.
Both Kyrgios and Tomic began their career at around the same time. However, Kyrgios has fared better, breaking into the Top 15 in addition to finishing runner-up at Wimbledon. However, he has been sidelined due to injury for over a year, making a brief appearance during an exhibition event during the 2024 US Open. Conversely, Tomic completely fell of the map and has struggled to resume his career on the ATP Tour, competing mostly in Challenger events.
