Jannik Sinner continues to blaze his own trail as he emerges alongside Carlos Alcaraz as the new Big Two of men's tennis sharing the Grand Slams this season. But this has led to him breaking different ground.
Sinner now sits at the start of his fledgling career no less only behind the so called Big Four for highest amount of ATP Ranking Points sitting atop the World No.1 position. He is currently on 11,920 points as of this week after defeating
Novak Djokovic to win the 2024 Shanghai Masters.
Djokovic is in and his own and likely won't get caught by Sinner. The Italian will likely hold the World No.1 spot until at least after the Australian Open as that will fall off his ranking if he doesn't defend it. But the Serbian shows his dominance in most metrics sitting on 16,950 points way ahead of his two main rivals.
Roger Federer who sits on 15,903 points, while
Rafael Nadal who like the Swiss ace now can't add anymore is on 15,390 points. He announced his retirement earlier in the week.
Andy Murray as ever is perhaps underappreciated and for his role in the so called Big Four, he sits in that fourth position on 12,685 points ahead of Sinner's 11,920. But that could change. Especially with the ATP Finals and Paris Masters still to come. Behind those in the top five are a cluster of top names.
Led by Pete Sampras with 11,005. It also comprises Daniil Medvedev (10,780), Andre Agassi (10,739), Lleyton Hewitt (9,890) and Andy Roddick (9.852) to complete the top 10 with Carlos Alcaraz not yet on the list.
