Kei Nishikori and Alexander Bublik are the latest players to opt out of an ATP event next month, with the pair withdrawing from one of the ATP 250 events scheduled for Melbourne in January.
With the Australian Open set to begin on January 17, 2022, the ATP had scheduled some events that players could use to warm up for the first Grand Slam of the season.

After entering one of the ATP 250 events set for the first week of January, Nishikori announced his withdrawal from the event. The former World No.4 has been dealing with injuries, as he was forced to withdraw from his last four events in the 2021 season.
Conversely, Bublik was one of the final players to end his 2021 season. The World No.36 represented Kazakhstan at the recently concluded Davis Cup Finals, but is still scheduled to play at the Australian Open.
