Five setters at grand slams are not uncommon and the first of this year's US Open was between Norrie and Schwartzman and it was a spectacular one.

Cameron Norrie managed to battle back against Diego Schwartzman to advance to the 2nd round of the US Open in just over 4 hours. It was a spectacular match which in the beginning went largerly as expected. Diego Schwartzman managed to play his own style with long rallies that didn't really benefit Norrie.
The Argentinian won the first set 6-3 and continued playing well in the 2nd one. The 2nd set was one by Diego as well but this time with 6-4. After that Norrie came alive and started playing much better. The reason was his agressivness which increased as he sought the shorten the points.
The style of play didn't suit Schwartzman at all which was evident as he was demolished in the 3rd with 6-2. He didn't find a solution that sort of play in the next set as well as he got crushed with 6-1. The final set was a great one. Both players played well as the intensity of Norries play dropped due to exhaustion. It was Schwartzman who was better having a 5-3 lead and even a match point which was saved by Norrie.
At 5-4 Schwartzman had a chance to end it with another match point but failed to convey it. Norrie battled back to make it 5-5 and then proceeded to win the next two games as well winning the final set 7-5 after 73 minutes of play. All in all it was a huge victory for Norrie but at what cost ? Will he recover in time for round 2 ?
