Great Britain's
Cameron Norrie fought back from a break down in the second set to defeat Jenson Brooksby and advance to the quarterfinals at the BNP Paribas Open
Indian Wells on Wednesday night.
The defending champion pulled of a 6-2 6-4 victory over the NextGen star, relying on his experience to get him through the match. After cruising through the opening set, the Brit suffered a slight dip in form that saw his American opponent obtain an early break. However, the 12th-seeded Norrie remained calm under pressure as he fought back to level the score, eventually closing out the match after an hour and 38 minutes.
Norrie is hoping to defend the title he won in 2021, his first ATP Masters 1000 trophy. The World No.12 has looked shaky at times during the tournament, but has always found a way to win as he improves to a 13-6 record for the season.
The recent Delray Beach champion faces rising star Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, with the Spaniard prevailing in their lone previous meeting at last year's US Open.
