Novak Djokovic is not yet confirmed for the Australian Open and Struff, as many others, believes it would be a shame not to have him there.
Jan-Lennard Struff and Novak Djokovic played in the Davis Cup tie between Germany and Serbia with Djokovic easily winning that match in two sets. Prior to the match, Struff talked about the matchup with Djokovic and the greatness of the Serbian. Djokovic is not yet confirmed for the Australian Open due to his reservations about getting vaccinated and Struff believes it would be a shame not having him there.
"From a sporting point of view, it would be a brutal shame if Djokovic does not compete in Australia. This is his most successful tournament."
Novak Djokovic had some of the best moments of his career at the Australian Open with the event being his most successful grand slam event by far. He won it 9 times so far with 2021 a great chance to make it 10. It would be like that if Djokovic did not have reservations about getting vaccinated which he will need to do if he wants to play at the event.
The Serbian declined to publicly discuss his vaccination status leaving fans to wonder whether he will show up in Australia. Many believe he will but it remains to be seen. Either way, Struff is right, it would be a huge shame if the event happens without Djokovic.
