Novak Djokovic will take on Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Astana Open final after Medvedev abruptly retired from the match.
It was a very good match between Djokovic and Medvedev with the culmination happening in the second set tiebreak. It was an amazing tiebreak, one where Djokovic went up 4-1 only to see Medvedev battle back to 5-5. The Russian then missed a relatively easy volley on the net to go up 6-5 giving Djokovic a set point.
The Serbian failed to convert it as he sent a backhand into the net but eventually he would be able to get it done 8-6. It was match on except it wasn't as Medvedev abruptly retire from the match leaving Djokovic visibly disappointed and stunned.
It's unclear what had happened because the Russian looked fine and almost won it.
