Novak Djokovic started yet another week as the number one player in the world with the Serbian now sitting at 339.
That means that Djokovic is now only 39 weeks as the number one player in the world away from breaking the all-time record held by Steffi Graff. Djokovic is already the ATP player with the most weeks as world number one as he surpassed Roger Federer some time ago. Now he is in the hunt for the all-time record held by Steffi Graff at 377 weeks.
Djokovic is certain to hold his number one ranking for the rest of the 2021 season thanks to a lot of points won at the Grand Slams. Daniil Medvedev is in pursuit but the difference sits at around 1500 points and that seems insurmountable for Medvedev especially with the Russian defending a lot of points heading for the rest of the year.
Djokovic did admit he was unsure whether he will play in the 2021 anymore but it's widely expected he will play the Paris Masters and the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin at the very last. His Indian Wells participation is in doubt and many predict he will skip it. It will interesting to see what will happen as many things are possible. Time will tell.
