Djokovic Rome open 2021
Novak Djokovic started his 2021 Belgrade Open campaign with a win over lucky loser Mats Moraing.
The number one seed started off his Belgrade Open campaign with a win over Mats Moraing 6-2 7-6(4). It was a very tight match in certain moments but Djokovic was able to win the match without too much drama. The start of the match featured a warm-up phase with Djokovic testing out his opponent.
Once he figured out his tendencies and way of play Djokovic went on a run to close out the first set with 6-2. The 2nd set was a much more interesting one. Moraing played a lot better and Djokovic was not as focused as in the opening set. He took a 3-2 lead by breaking Moraing but the German pulled it right back.
Djokovic once again took the lead in the perfect time at 6-5 positioning himself to serve for the match but once again his focus dipped and Moraing was able to force a tiebreak. In the tiebreak, Djokovic decided it was enough and won it 7-4.
It was not a world-beating performance but Djokovic will be happy to move on at an event where he hopes to finetune his clay game for the Roland Garros.
