Rafael Nadal has always been a tennis player to focus on himself mostly and he confirmed that by saying he doesn't care where he finishes in the major race.
One of the most polarizing topics in the era of the big three has been the major race with Roger Federer tied with Rafael Nadal at 20 and Novak Djokovic having 18. Many consider it an important factor in determining who is the greatest tennis player of all time. For Rafael Nadal, it's not important where he finishes. Nadal said:
"We also have the responsibility to promote our sport in the right way, trying to take care of things that could bring tennis to a higher level. We don't joke much about our Major tally. We all have been doing things in our way; I would love to finish with more Major crowns than anybody else, but that's something I'm not obsessed with at all."
Nadal confirmed the tennis players do communicate through a private what's app group and it's fairly active. Despite that, they leave the competitive spirit for the tennis courts. Nadal also said:
"I'm super happy about my tennis career, and life would continue if Roger or Novak, or both, finish ahead of me in that race. In ten years, that will not make my life more or less happier; I'm just trying to enjoy what I'm doing."
Nadal concluded by saying that he really does not care that much:
"I don't like to bet and can't predict who will finish at the top; I'm part of that process, and I don't care that much."
