Novak Djokovic claimed his first Major title at the Australian Open 2008, beating Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to add his name to the list of immortals.
Since 2011, Djokovic became the world's most consistent player, earning six year-end no. 1 honors and claiming 17 Major titles in 11 seasons to melt the deficit behind Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Producing stellar tennis at all four Majors and every surface, Novak secured a Career Grand Slam at Roland Garros 2016 and returned at his best in 2018 following a nasty elbow injury to extend his legacy and chase his main rivals in the GOAT race.
Novak claimed one Major crown in 2020, conquering his beloved Australian Open before getting defaulted at the US Open and losing the Roland Garros final to Rafael Nadal, missing a chance to add more notable trophies to his tally.
Eager to fix that, the Serb secured the ninth Australian Open shield last Sunday, moving two titles behind Federer and Nadal ahead of the rest of the season.
Thus, Novak became the third player with 13 years between the first and last Major title, following Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer who stand on 15 and proving his incredible legacy once again at 33.
Most years between the first and last Major title:
15 - Roger Federer (2003-2018)
15 - Rafael Nadal (2005-2020)
13 - Novak Djokovic (2008-2021)
12 - Pete Sampras (1990-2002)
