Novak Djokovic joined the eternal debate about who is the GOAT of tennis. The 24-time Grand Slam champion participated in a 'blind rank' game, where he had to choose the greatest tennis player of all time among the sport's legends.

Upon his arrival at the Miami Open, the Serbian responded to a question-and-answer interview with DAZN, where he had to rank 5 players from first to fifth place as the journalist named them—without Djokovic knowing who the next names would be.

The initial challenge involved American Pete Sampras, who owns 64 titles on the circuit, 14 of them Grand Slam titles. “My idol,” he mentioned, placing him in third place on the list, wisely leaving room at both ends to complete the ranking with the other stars.

He then surprised by placing his great rival, Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, as No. 1. However, among the names given to Djokovic, his own name was not included. The remaining players included Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, and his coach Andy Murray.

Djokovic placed the Swiss Maestro Federer—20-time Grand Slam champion—as No. 2, while Agassi (8-time Grand Slam champion) stayed in fourth place. The last mentioned was the 3-time Grand Slam champion and former rival Andy Murray, whom he had no choice but to place in fifth.

Although Djokovic never faced American legends Sampras and Agassi, he did compete against the other three members of the Big-4, and he leads the head-to-head against each of them. Against Murray, he finished 25-11, against Federer 27-23, and against Nadal 31-29, in the rivalry with the most matches between the two in the Open Era.

Djokovic is the only one still active among his rivals and currently holds the world No. 5 ranking. The 37-year-old will compete this week at the Miami Open, where he is still waiting to learn his opponent, who will come from the winner of Rinky Hijikata and his fellow young star Hamad Medjedovic.
