Novak Djokovic broke the record for most weeks as No. 1 and today he tied
Serena Williams for 3rd most in all of tennis.
The era of Novak Djokovic is still ongoing with the Serbian starting another week as the best-ranked player in tennis today. Today he started his 319th week as the number one in men's tennis which is the absolute record for men's tennis. It's not the absolute record for all of the tennis as he moved up to 3rd place which he now shares with Serena Williams.
In the next few months, he will certainly surpass that record and Serena Williams for the 3rd most weeks as number one but his sights are set for the first two spots. The 2nd most weeks as number one in all of tennis belong to Martina Navratilova who spent 332 weeks. It's a realistic target for Djokovic who could do it if he continues to play the tennis he played in Australia.
His recent form has been shaky as he lost to Evans in Monte-Carlo and to Karatsev in Belgrade. It's clay season which is not his favourite so some struggle was expected. The absolute record holder for most weeks as number one in all of tennis is Steffi Graff who spent 377 weeks as the top player.
It's a big number and Djokovic is far away from it at the moment but the immense ambition of the Serbian might target that number as well. It would be something nobody has ever done before and it would cement him firmly among the greatest of all-time discussion.
What do you think ? Will he overtake Graff. Let us know below.
