💥 9 wins in a ROW 💥 @JelenaOstapenk8 dispatches Muguruza 6-2, 6-2 to reach the Qatar semifinals #QatarTennis
Jelena Ostapenko is continuing her tennis onslaught with the Latvian player securing yet another win in the Persian Gulf.
This one comes over Garbine Muguruza with the Latvian winning 6-2 6-2. Ostapenko has been playing as the best player in the world these past two weeks with no player able to counter her tremendous ability to hit winners seemingly out of any position. Muguruza is a very good defensive player and Doha certainly allows players to defend in rallies however none of that mattered.
Ostapenko quite quickly found her rhythm and after that punished Muguruza non-stop. The Spaniard has not been playing too well lately. This defeat is hardly a shocker for anybody but the lack of any competitiveness from the Spaniard is worrying. She served fine in this match and still was not competitive.
She only won 3 out of 17 2nd serve points and that was a major issue in this match. Every time she missed her first serve, Ostapenko could already pencil in a point. Obviously with such a dominating display on both serve and return, the Latvian quickly cruised to the finish line. It took her only 67 minutes to win the match and move on to the semifinal.
