A couple of Tour veterans faced off in Bastad with
Pablo Carreno Busta taking on
Stan Wawrinka and the Spaniard proved better in straight sets 7-5 6-4.
Both of these players have played well on clay over the years and today they took on each other in a fairly competitive match. Wawrinka can't match the highest level of the best players but he stayed in this match against Carreno Busta for a long time. The start of the match did not feature any break points and it looked like grass tennis.
Eventually, though, Carreno Busta was able to wear Wawrinka down taking the opening set 7-5. The Spaniard was quite comfortable in the opening set dropping only three points behind his first serve. He did not face a single break point and largely cruised.
Quite a similar thing happened in the 2nd set with the Spaniard largely cruising on his own serve. He dropped only a handful of points behind his first serve in the 2nd set as well and once again did not face a single break point. He struggled on Wawrinka's first serve but was able to create a lot of damage on his 2nd. He won the majority of those points converting one of four break points he had.
