The Paris Masters has began and one of the top ties of the opening day saw Andy Murray face off against Alex de Minaur and the Brit will no doubt be seething after the best opportunity he has had to ever defeat the Aussie ace passed him by.
De Minaur came from 2-5 in the third set, he saved a match point to win through 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-5 to reach the second round and continue his hoodoo against Murray.
In defeat, the former World No.1 had his best chance for not only a win over De Minaur, but his best victory since Wimbledon as he has not been able to produce since then.
Also a few weeks ago, Murray had the same predicament as he was 5-2 in the third set and had three match points instead of one and spurned them too and the hoodoo now continues. For De Minaur, his race to Turin for the ATP Finals also continues just about.
With nine players fighting for three spots, he gives his chances a huge boost and also sends Murray painfully back to the drawing board again with the 2024 season inbound and more questions than answers on the future of the legendary Brit.
