Roger Federer will miss significant time due to yet another knee surgery which he announced a few days ago.
Roger Federer announced he would undergo a 3rd knee surgery on his right knee missing the 2021 US Open as well many other events that follow. Federer did not give an estimate on when he will be able to return to tennis but Federer did confirm he will come back.
Many players reacted to the news including Nick Kyrgios, Andy Roddick and the latest to do so is world number two,
Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev never pointed to Federer as a hero of his or an inspiration but the Russian openly shared his honest thoughts about the news.
He said:
"Well, it's a pity for everybody. We love watching him play. I don't know exactly his problems with the knee. I'm not a doctor. But, I mean, age takes over. Hopefully, we can still see him back on tour, because I think that's what he wants. That's what everybody wants. Of course, even if he's going to be back on tour, we're gonna try to beat him every time we play him, even if it's Roger."
Medvedev summed up his thoughts by saying:
"I know we are still competitors on the court, but the only thing I can wish him right now, because I saw it before the match is health, speedy recovery, and seeing him back on tour, yeah, because we never know what's going to happen next."
