Holger Rune and Carlos Alcaraz grew up together on the Tour and the Danish player is certainly excited about playing Alcaraz in the coming years as he's 'possible to beat'.
Carlos Alcaraz is probably the most exciting player to emerge in tennis in the past decade. Already a grand slam champion and number one, Alcaraz is certainly destined for even more great things in the future. One player that played in the juniors together with him is not too far behind as Rune also established himself as one of the great talents.
"The junior rivalry with Carlos was great, we played very good games. And we get along, that's right. We confront each other a lot and push ourselves to our limits, and that's great, because it amuses people. He already knows he is another one of those who fights until the end, and that makes everything more exciting."

Possible to beat

Rune and Alcaraz never played in the professionals yet but it will certainly come in the future. The Dane is excited about that as he's not afraid of the Spaniard. He knows that he's beatable and it's been shown this year already:
"He's already lost a few games this year, so it's possible to beat him, but it's clearly going to be tough. Right now, Carlos is one of the most difficult players to beat; but, I insist, everyone is going to lose one day."
Their rivalry might quite possibly be the next big rivalry in tennis as they are of a similar age and both have already proved to be one of the best players at the Tour. Their future is very bright for the next decade so it's going to be very interesting to see what will happen in their future, especially since they know each other since they were 12.

Carlos Alcaraz on Holger Rune, both 17yo. "For me it's good to have him here in Marbella, doing well on tour. It's a mate. We've grown up together and facing each other since the under 12. Hope he does well".
