⭐️ATP Tour Finals 2023⭐️ 🔴 Red Group - H2H 1⃣ Carlos Alcaraz 2⃣ Daniil Medvedev 3⃣ Andrey Rublev 4⃣ Alexander Zverev #ATPFinals
Day Two of the 2023 ATP Finals will take place on Monday, November 13 at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, Italy. Here is our preview of the action as the Red Group gets underway, with Carlos Alcaraz taking on Alexander Zverev while Daniil Medvedev faces Andrey Rublev.
Firstly, World No. 2 Alcaraz will take to the court against World No. 8 Zverev at the 2023 Nitto ATP Finals. The 20-year-old has had a hugely successful season, defeating Novak Djokovic in the final of Wimbledon and winning two Masters titles with victories at Indian Wells and in Madrid. Although the Spaniard had a difficult time at the Paris Masters last week, losing his first-round match against Roman Safiullin, he has looked motivated in his preparations for Turin.
Meanwhile, Zverev has re-gained his form throughout the season after coming back from injury earlier in the year. He made it to the quarter-final of the US Open in September before winning the Chengdu Open shortly afterward. He then reached the semi-final of the China Open in Beijing in October.
Their head-to-head is currently level at 3-3, with Alcaraz having won their two most recent clashes, including a straight-sets win at the US Open 6-3, 6-2, 6-4. While Zverev has shown resilience throughout the season to get back to his level, he has still struggled against top-ranked players, while Alcaraz's impressive recent record against the German player should see him win this match, although it may not be easy.
Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in three sets.
Next up, Medvedev and Rublev will face each other in their first group-stage match of the tournament. World No. 3 Medvedev has seen a lot of success this season, winning two Masters titles in Rome and Miami, as well as reaching the US Open final.
Meanwhile, Rublev won the title at the Monte-Carlo Masters earlier this year and made it to the final of the Shanghai Masters last month, where he finished as runner-up to Hubert Hurkacz. However, Medvedev dominates their head-to-head 6-2. The 27-year-old also won their most recent meeting in the semi-final of the US Open in straight sets.
Both players are big hitters with powerful serves and good movement across the court. However, Medvedev will be aiming to use his superior return to his advantage, as well as his stronger consistency. Therefore, he should prevail in this clash as long as he plays at his usual level.
Prediction: Daniil Medvedev to win in three sets.
