The schedule is set for Day Two of the 2023 Japan Open, the final ATP tournament to take place during the Asian Hard Court swing. Our preview looks ahead to the main talking points and the main players involved.

Alexander Zverev was one of the leading lights to be dumped out on Day One at the hands of Jordan Thompson. But many of the top seeds are in action on Day Two.

Top American contingent set as Fritz, Tiafoe and Shelton begin campaigns

It is very much an all-American day on the main courts with three of the top names from the States (barring Tommy Paul) in action on Day Two.

Taylor Fritz who this year has been the model of consistency for American Men's tennis similar to Jessica Pegula in the WTA.

His only real thorn has been a certain Novak Djokovic. Not playing until Shanghai, he lost to a revived Diego Schwartzman in the second round and faces a tough test to begin his campaign in Tokyo. A certain Cameron Norrie awiats.

It is also a double dose of Brits with Alex de Minaur facing Jack Draper. De Minaur of course knowing Britain well due to his girlfriend Katie Boulter and he will aim to dent the revival of the young hope Draper.

Speaking of young hopes, Ben Shelton is also in action aiming to put the phone down on a home hero with Taro Daniel up first third up on the Colosseum court. Before Casper Ruud then takes to the court facing another home player who Fritz defeated last week in Yosuke Watanuki.

Losing in the Quarter-Finals in China and the Last 16 to resurgent Fabian Maroszan who defeated Carlos Alcaraz earlier in the season then fell off the planet in Shanghai, he is starting to show some flickers after poor form since Roland Garros.

Before Frances Tiafoe concludes proceedings. Aslan Karatsev is his first opponent. While on the outside court, Cristian Garin, Karen Khachanov, Diego Schwartzman and Tomas Martin Etcheverry take top billing in their contests. All looking to reach the second round in Tokyo.
