The quarterfinal line-up at the Chengdu Open is packed with interesting names, with 2 semifinalists from St Petersburg and also Dimitrov and Shapovalov in action.

Unusually, the most interesting match of the fifth day of play will be the first one. Grigor Dimitrov, who made it to the US Open semifinals, will face Alexander Bublik, who has defeated both Taylor Fritz and Jordan Thompson in China.
In the second match, the St Petersburg semifinalist Joao Sousa and George Harris will meet. Sousa has been able to beat players like Khachanov, Kukushkin and Auger-Aliassime over the past week and will certainly be a big obstacle for Harris on his way to the semifinals.
Another semi-finalist from St Petersburg, Egor Gerasaimov, will face Denis Shapovalov. Shapovalov supported the Team World at the Laver Cup and is the 8th seeded in Chengdu. Gerasimov has beaten players like Berrettini and Isner in the last week by winning 9 out of the last 10 matches.
Pablo Carreno-Busta and Christian Garin will meet in the last game of the fifth day. The Spaniard knocked out the third seeded Paire in the previous match and won a single match against Garin in 2016 at the clay in Geneva.
