The first three seeded players at the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Gael Monfils will be attempting to reach semifinals in Dubai.
Although the quarterfinal day in Dubai will feature names like Djokovic, Tsitsipas and Monfils the other two players will kick-off the day. It will be the 6th seeded Russian, Andrey Rublev and Dan Evans.
Rublev and Evans met for the first time already in 2016. Back then, Evans managed to defeat Rublev in Dallas 2-1. However, in the last 12 months, Rublev was successful in both meetings in Indian Wells and
Adelaide where he has won a trophy. In Dubai, Evans defeated Fognini and Herbert in three sets. On the other hand, Rublev did not lose a set against Musetti or Krajinovic.
In the second quarterfinal match, Jan-Lennard Struff will take on
Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek did not lose a set in his last 6 matches when he managed to
win the trophy at Open 13 Provence. However, also Struff is in a very good form in Dubai when he defeated Bautista and Basilashvili without losing a set.
Novak Djokovic is the brightest star of the tournament and he proves that in every match he plays. After
triumphing at the 2020 Australian Open, the Serbian did not lose a set yet in Dubai and continues playing in a great form. He will be facing young Russian, Karen Khachanov who also did not lose a set in Dubai in his victories over Kukushkin and Novak.
The all-French duel will finish the day in Dubai. No. 3 at the tournament,
Gael Monfils will be facing Richard Gasquet. At the moment, Monfils holds a streak of 22 won sets in a row. The Frenchman triumphed in
Montpellier and
Rotterdam and did not lose a set yet in Dubai. However, also Gasquet plays in a good form in Dubai and so the 18th meeting of these two will bring a lot of action once again.
