With
Rafael Nadal competing at his final
Olympic Games this summer, the Spaniard had his jersey and that of compatriot and teammate
Carlos Alcaraz autographed and immortalized at Nadal's museum in Manacor, Mallorca.
Alcaraz had openly stated he would like to compete alongside Nadal at the Olympic Games, and after much deliberation, the 22-time Grand Slam champion agreed to play in the doubles event with the younger Spaniard. The duo, fondly referred to as 'Nadalcaraz' by fans, made an impressive run in Paris. They would reach the quarterfinals, before falling to the fourth-seeded American team of Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek.
Autographed jerseys put on display in Nadal's museum
To commemorate the special occasion, a signed jersey of both players has been put on display at the Rafa Nadal Museum, which is located in Nadal's hometown in Mallorca. Additionally, the Spanish duo wrote heartfelt messages for each other, which were also included on the jersey.
"Thank you so much Carlos for this great memory," read Nadal's message.
"For the Rafa Nadal Museum with love Carlos Alcaraz," wrote Alcaraz.
Although Nadal was forced to withdraw from the 2024 US Open, the 38-year old announced he will be part of Spain's Davis Cup team at the knockout stages later this year. Nadal will be joined by Alcaraz, who was instrumental in Spain's progression from the group stage.
