Rafael Nadal not only made a triumphant return to action on Tuesday but he also surpassed Ivan Lendl for a new milestone. it was a 1069th ATP singles match victory, moving past Lendl to the fourth-most wins in the open era.
One player who he likely won't beat is at the top of the list which is Jimmy Connors who has 1274 wins on the tour and is followed by Roger Federer who has 1251 wins. But the third player could be one to be caught albeit he is still active so still adding wins and that is Novak Djokovic with 1089.

Q: 'Rafa, I'm not sure if you're aware but it was your 1069th win tonight, which takes you into outright fourth past Ivan Lendl for most wins in ATP history...' Nadal: 'Well, as you can imagine it was not a statistic that I was aware of' 😅

But he is only 20 away and with Nadal playing likely more of a schedule than Djokovic this season, he could momentarily take it away from the Serbian. Post-match after seeing off Dominic Thiem at the Brisbane International, he was quizzed on reaching the landmark but said he wasn't aware of it.
"Rafa, I'm not sure if you're aware but it was your 1069th win tonight, which takes you into outright fourth past Ivan Lendl for most wins in ATP history," the interviewer said. To whch, Nadal replied, "Well, as you can imagine it was not a statistic that I was aware of."
He has one feat though that Djokovic has yet to achieve yet alongside the Roland Garros titles which by the Serbian's admission, he will never reach but that is the career Golden Slam which only Andre Agassi on the men's side has sealed and Serena Williams and Steffi Graf respectively on the women's tour. Next up is Jason Kubler as he aims to make it 1070.
